To have your child baptized at St. Thomas, parents are required to attend a baptism class before the baptism of their first child. Godparents are also encouraged to attend. Parents are not required to repeat the class before baptizing their other children. Baptism classes will be scheduled in conjunction with the individual families. Please call the parish office to set an appointment for baptism class.
A child may have one godfather, one godmother, or both a godfather and a godmother. It is not permitted to have two godfathers or two godmothers. At least one of the godparents must be a baptized, confirmed, adult practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church. Godparents should be at least 16 years old. If a godparent cannot be present for a baptism, they may be represented by a proxy.
Baptisms may be celebrated at Sunday Mass. Children may be baptized at the last Sunday of the month at the 11 AM Mass. However, parents may also freely request that their child be baptized privately at a convenient time. Contact the parish office or email parishoffice@stthomas-church.net to schedule a private baptism with one of our priests or deacons.
