LENT is the season of renewal and new life. It is the season to give ourselves the gift of attending to what is most important to us-our relationship with God. Quiet is at the heart of this gift. Though we yearn for quiet. it is easily eluded. We challenge each of you to give yourself the gift of quiet this Lent-by prayer, just being in some quiet, reading, or whatever works for you, all the time surrendering yourself to a deeper relationship with God.
The Catholic Conference of Illinois is offering a 91-day program of daily, emailed readings of the Social Teaching of the Church. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about what Pope Francis has been focusing on since his election last March.
Participants will receive a daily email featuring a small section of the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church – usually just a few paragraphs – beginning on Ash Wednesday (March 5) and continuing through June 8. Go to www.ilcatholic.org and click on the “91 days” banner to learn more and sign up. The readings will be offered in both English and Spanish.
